Open Day - Travel Information

York has excellent motorway links to all regions of the UK. York by train is simple - excellent rail links bring you from London, Edinburgh, and Manchester in around 2 hours. Manchester and Leeds/Bradford airports are also within easy reach. All selected hotels are close to York Railway station.

By Air

Leeds/Bradford International Airport: https://www.lbia.co.uk/

The main scheduled direct flights from international destinations are operated by KLM (www.klm.com), Jet2 (www.Jet2.com/) and bmi (www.flybmi.com/).

An hourly, express, direct coach service operates between Leeds Bradford International Airport and York Railway Station. Discounted tickets are available when booking online (https://www.yorkaircoach.com//). The journey time is approximately 55 minutes. Tickets can also be purchased on the coach, at the Travelex Bureau at the airport or at York Rail Station Visitor & Information Centre.

Manchester International Airport: https://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/manweb.nsf/

Manchester Airport is a major airport within the UK and many scheduled airlines fly to this airport.

A 24hr train service operates between Manchester International Airport and York (https://www.tpexpress.co.uk//). The majority of these train services are direct; however some require a change at Manchester Piccadilly station. The journey time is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.

By Train

The Eurostar train operates direct services from Brussels, Paris and Lille to London St Pancras. This station is adjacent to London Kings Cross (5 minute walk) from where frequent trains operate to York. It is possible to book a single ticket that includes travel from any Belgian station or Paris to York (www.eurostar.com/).

York is only two hours from London. There are also direct train services from Edinburgh, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and the South West.

By Sea

For European visitors, York is only a one hour car drive from the P&O Sea Ferries terminal at Kingston-upon-Hull with daily sailings to Holland and Belgium.
