Women in BioCop Fellowship Scheme Winner announced

Dr. Priscilla Bowens

BioCop is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2007 Fellowship scheme is Dr. Priscilla Bowens from the Universität Zürich, Switzerland.

Dr. Bowens is happy to be selected for the scheme and would like to thank the BioCop for giving her this opportunity to develop as a young scientist. As the new fellowship recipient, Dr. Bowens is planning for a two-week visit to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), aiming at transferring technology of transcriptomic analysis methods (WP1) used by the research group in Zurich to RIVM and, at the same time, acquiring knowledge and understanding of different extractions methods employed by the host laboratory for mycotoxins analysis (WP10). Dr. Bowens is looking forward to productive activity with Ir. Hans van Egmond which will benefit both BioCop and the Fellowship holder. On completing her two weeks, Dr. Bowens will then provide a report detailing her activities; this will be made available on the BioCop website at a further date.

Dr. Bowens is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and also holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science; she has experienced as both a Veterinary student representative for Nestlè Purina and as a general practitioner, within emergency and critical care for small animals.

We would like to congratulate Dr. Bowens, wishing her every success with her visit and her doctoral study.
