Location: Universita Degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata, Italy
Local Host: Universita Degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata (URTV)
Email: [email protected]    Website:

BioCop are pleased to announce that a workshop to demonstrate BioCop methods to the network of European heavy metal testing laboratories on ''Screening and confirmatory methods for the detection of heavy metals in food'' will take place at the Universita Degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata (URTV) on the 2nd - 3rd July 2009. It is our pleasure to invite all interested stakeholders to attend this event.

The workshop will include a demonstration and training activity on the detection of lead in food (milk) using SPE and the Palmsens instrument. Biomarker Analysis for the Detection of illegal Anabolic Agents
Location: TBC
Local Host: BioCop and National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM)
Email: [email protected]    Website:

In Year 5 of the BioCop Project (2009), The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) will hold a workshop for all European national reference laboratories on the subject of biomarker analysis for the detection of illegal anabolic agents.

BioCop Consumer Workshop
Location: TBC
Local Host: The BioCop Project
Email: [email protected]    Website:

The Consumer Workshops will provide a forum for discussion of the projects' developments and their application between scientists - seeking to advance these novel techniques, and consumers' organisation representatives - seeking to ensure better food safety for consumers. Consumers' need for reassurance about food safety will be central - their concerns about, for example, multiple residues and contaminants in foods, the cocktail effects of food contaminants and residues, are being taken seriously and addressed by developments in this project.

Consumers' needs and views should be acknowledged and assimilated into the European research agenda; the consumer workshop will initiate this dialogue, which will be ongoing throughout the project.
